Hi Amanda; I have my first flock as well. I am finding BYC to be a great resource. The members are really generous with their time and advice. Glad to have someone to learn along with me! My chicks are about 5 weeks old. I think it is a 60:40 split, female:male, but time will tell.

Hi Amanda and welcome to our community. Seems you've had some bad luck with your first flock - all the more reason to get rid of some of the little fellas and get more girls [IMG].

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center, and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you

    All the best

I believe one of the rules of chicken math is: If you get a roo replace it with two (pullets)

Quite right. And while you're there, might as well get three, or even four, right? I mean, just in case. You never know when you might need some more chickens. :D
