Hello all,
This is my first flock of backyard chickens and I am reaching out to see if anyone could help me identify the sex of one of my chickens, Billie. Earlier this year I received a few eggs from a friend of mine and was only able to hatch one. I bought 4 more female barnevelders shortly after Billie was hatched.
My friend has wyandottes and e.e. on her farm so I am confident about his/her parentage. However, my husband, friend and I are all stumped as to what Billies gender is. We all think that Billie is a she, however, since she was 7 weeks old she has been making what sounds like a crow. It doesnt sound like a young rooster learning to cock-a-doodle, but more like a flat, one note crow. Similar to kazoo! She has only done it when she wants out of the coup.
Personality, she seems to be top of the pecking order with the other girls and is not aggressive at all.
These pictures were taken on today (7/29/20) and Billie 13 weeks as of this past Monday.
Any advice or guidance would be super helpful!
