Hello! My australorp tore a good chunk of her comb off today while I was at work. I think she tore it on part of the pen fencing, but I will check when it is daylight tomorrow for blood and/or damage. The comb chunk was barely hanging on, so I sterilized all my equipment, cleaned her head/wound, cut the portion of the comb off, quickly used styptic powder (there was actually not a lot of bleeding), and gave her a few soldier fly larvae for being a good chicken. She is recovering with the others in the coop overnight. See attached photos.

I plan on monitoring the wound over the next few days, cleaning with Vetricyn and applying neosporin frequently or as needed to the comb/wound. Is there anything else I need to do for aftercare? Is it a problem if she only has half a comb? Thanks for your help!
