My Rhode Island Red is 2 years old. Have noticed last few days her head looks wet or oily. Today her comb appears to have a sore on both sides, kind of looks like its rotting, and head still oily looking. She is eating and acting like herself. I'm so afraid. She is my favorite.

Could you post a picture? Sounds like maybe dry fowl pox. There are 2 types, wet and dry. I think dry affects the comb, is more common and clears up on its own after a couple weeks without any treatment. Wet fowl pox causes sores in the mouth, and I believe needs treatment, but haven't had to deal with it so far so I don't really know for sure.

Thank you so much for replying. I think you can see that her head and neck look oily. I hope these pictures are viewable for you. If not, I will resend or take other pix. Thank you so much

Not sure what could be causing the oily-ness, maybe @casportpony would know. The yellow on her comb looks like (dry) fowl pox to me, so if that's the case it should go away in 2-3 weeks. I can't think of anything else I know of that would cause it to look like that, except maybe frostbite but that usually just affects the tips of the comb and it looks warmish there judging from the green grass in the pics.
