Wondering if anyone has seen this in a comb before? This Leghorn hen is prob about 6 or 7 years old. I was considering making her into stew soon as her egg production is poor.

I noticed her comb becoming swollen a couple weeks ago and then noticed this today. Not sure if the comb tore and it dried blood or if it's necrotic tissue. Not sure if I should just cull her and bury her or if it's ok to still stew. She has been showing no other signs of being sick.

Looks like she was attacked or something. It does a bit swollen. May I ask, is half of her beak missing? Either way, apply Vertricyn, and maybe a liquid bandage spray to prevent other chickens from pecking her wound.

Thanks for your help. I'm guessing it is dried blood from getting her comb scratched or pecked. Her beak is cut bc she was from a factory farm. We are third owners. She's been good chicken for us.
