We've got three chicks. Two light brahmas and one Australorp. They are all between 3 - 4 weeks old and sweet as can be. The Brahmas a already much bigger than the Australorp - lots of feathers too. The Australorp has some wing feathers and . . . a sizeable comb. The Brahmas just have fuzzy little heads. I'm thinking rooster?

These are city chickens and roosters are forbidden. I'm already so attached to "Stink" and I don't want to get more attached and then have to give him away.

What do you think? Is it a rooster possibly or do Australorps get their combs a lot earlier?

My BA got a comb a bit earlier, and she has longer tail feathers

I got five started pullets of exactly the same breed Hyline commercial cross. They were all 17 weeks old, but some had HUGE red combs and a couple had barely there ones. They are all hens and lay an egg a day, and there combs all look the same now.
