I have 4 4 week old silkie mix chicks, 3 are silkie/rumpless araucona mix and one is a silkie/ameraucana mix and so far they all have the rose type comb. Has anyone had this mix before and at what age were you able to tell girl or boy by their combs they are all feathering out the same and they all look the same at this point, My 5th chick was easy to tell he was a roo he's starting to get waddles he's a black ameraucana/turken mix I think he's black with brown tipped feathers

IMO with crossbreeds feathers is the best way to tell sex.
I have crosses that sometimes get the comb of the father and sometimes of the mother so it's very hard to tell with crosses.

these are my first silkie crosses and at the moment the 3 araucona crosses look like that have a mix of mom and dads feathers and only one is rumpless and they have dad's coloring and my silkie/amaeraucana looks like mom and has dad's feather type they will be interesting looking chicks when they get fully feathered out
