They are fowl Pox. It is passed by mosquitos. It will clear up in 4-6 weeks. Like chicken pox in humans after a bird has recovered from fowl pox they will never get it again. Egg production will be lowered by the the fowl pox as will fertility if you breed the infected bird. There is a dry pox (which is what your hen has) as well as a wet pox. The mortality rate of the dry pox is really low. The wet pox however is more severe and can cause mortality. This is a slow moving illness so if you have multiple coops it may take months for it to slowly move from on pen to another. There is a Poxine vaccine (in the USA) for adult birds and Chick-n-pox vaccine for juvenile stock. If you treat the whole flock after you see the first one get it, it will stop the spread of the illness and shorten the time of the illness.
