I bought 2 commets from the farm store. They are now about 4 weeks old. 1 is turning brown and the other is turning like a golden/tan color. Is this the same breed, maybe a different breed. Or is the golden one a male?

Hmmm. What color were they originally? As chicks, golden comet pullets should be reddish, cockerels are white (yellow). As they grow and get feathers, the pullets will look different from each other (some are more splotched with white, some are very dark, some are golden, etc.). Sounds like you got two pullets, they are just colored differently.
