My almost five week old black swedish duck is starting to gain a curl at the end of their tail. I was given a female duckling but now the faint flick makes me suspicious if they gave me the right duckling. I have one other pekin duck who I am positive is a girl so if my black swedish duck ends up being misgendered then will I have to separate them? Is it too soon to judge the feathers on my duck?

Why would you think that you might need to separate them?

    Hi, welcome to Backyard Chickens!
It is to early to tell. The curled feather comes in around 12 weeks old for black Swedish. But sometimes it can be longer.[IMG]

    Can you post a picture?

I thought I might have to because of the different breeds of ducks and I don't know how ducklings would turn out with different breeds.

I don't have a picture at the moment but if anything changes I'll try to get one. I did some more research and her tone of voice seems to sound like a female duck.

They are both mallard derived breeds and any ducklings would be healthy and fertile.
