Confused

Is one more advisable than the other? I'm such a newbie! We have been using 20% for 3 weeks. Today my husband went to get another bag of feed and brought back plain. Just wondered if I started on the wrong feed.

16 to 18% protein is fine for layer feed. The 20% obviously has more protein and, if I remember correctly, the idea behind that is the hens benefit from a little more protein during their peak production months (spring/summer). I suspect if you've got thousands of birds and you're selling eggs commercially it might help bump up production but for the average backyarder I don't think it really matters.
