Ok I know its rare, I know its mortality rate, I know that most hybrids are sterile. I read the previous posts and researched the pictures and sounds. I was there when Bemba shared the stories of a possibloe guinea chick and was naysayed by a fellow member. All that aside there is definitely something different about this little one. This year I have been trying to breed Showgirls and so when this chick came onboard with all the right color and naked neck I was excited. This was my sixth or so successful Showgirl this year. Also have frizzled Cochins in my flock and I noticedwhat i originally thought was frizzling on its wings. For future reference I named this one Poober. I know. But it was cute then. Anyway over the next week Poober never once made a chick sound. Instead she made one syllable squawks that I didnt recognize., I showed her to my husband as I show off all my new babies and his immediate response was it looks like a guinea. Its feathers are silkie and sparse. Its wings are weird. The secondary and primary flight feathers are literally quills. The tips have a small fluff reminiscent of a peacock. As if that isnt puzzling enough, she talks all night long making a kind of small voiced noisethat sounds almost like a kitten. Also her voice sounds hoarse. I have enclosed pictures but i dont think they really portray her overall bizarre beauty.

I truly hope that I am wrong about her being a hybrid chick-keet as I have fallen for her and she accompanies me throughout the house as i clean and perches on my lap to play computer games. Thanks for taking the time to listen.:hugs

Possible! Here's a video on YouTube where someone hatched "Guickens" from chickens/guineas:
Pretty interesting!

Although your chick doesn't really look like one...

Silkie feathering is a recessive trait. They have to get the gene from each parent to show silkie feathers.
I wouldn't see how it could be half guinea and have silkie feathers.

BTW is there a sexier breed than the shopwgirl? i fell in love with Onzo my first. My husband wanted to name her Gonzo. in a rats eye was goig to name my beauty Gonzo. but i cherish my husbands input so i settled for Onzo. She passed but her daughter Enzo lives on. Plus a multitude of grandchicks!
