Coop and No Run?

So we have built a fantastic coop ( I think!) with huge window lots of ventilation but no run or access to outside, we have a very active dog as well as there are many cyotes and foxes around the acreage so I hadn't intended for them to be free range either... is it important that they can get outside or is it okay for them to be inside chickens!?

I'd build them a run. Chickens like to be able to get out and do what chickens do - scratch and peck, eat grass and bugs.

You could build a secure run, and then make sure you lock up the run door each night! I think it would be sad, if they could never be outside some.
