Coop cleaning????? help me (:

Hi everyone,
Can someone tell me how to clean your coop? After I scoop up the poop and put new shavings in what do I do to dis infect it? What do you use??

first off, I have a linoleum floor and that really helps.

After we sweep, I use dishwasher detergent to mop. I think that disinfects pretty good as I use EXTREMELY hot water with it.
Then I put down a light dusting of DE and then the pine shavings.

and then I repeat every one to two weeks.

Right now I have a tractor type coop with a fenced run and the girls hide under the coop should I put them somewhere else?. Do you just use a sponge? De is too expensive here so I use pine and some poultry dust(for mites & other bugs).

Can I spray lysol? I wanted to spray lysol on the pine but didn't. Is it okay tocdo that?

I don't think you should spray lysol on your chickens bedding.

Ok! Duley nooted. i hate clorox. What else can I use?? I don't wanna use anything harsh.

expensive, but mixed at 7 ozs a gallon it turns out to be economical. You can run a 1/2 gallon through a humidifier once a week and it will do wonders. Kills everything it has ever been tested against and is safe for the chickens to inhale. As matter of fact I do it at night so the chickens breathe it to ward off resp. infections.

that is of course after you clean the coop and replace the bedding first. Then using it once a week will kill all odors, and keep everything and everyone disinfected
