Coop door

Is it OK to leave the door open to the coop at night. The door goes into a pretty secure outdoor run. Say we weren't going to be home for a few days. Should we leave them access to the run or just shut them in?

I would not shut them in their coop if i were going to be gone on a weekend trip or something but I'd make darn sure the run was secure enough that nothing could sneak in!
