Whew is it ever humid tonight, and just a mere 2 short nights ago our temps were hovering near 40. Crazy weather. Anyhow, before I put the chickens to bed I always visit them in the coop, grab a few off the perch for some 1:1 and make sure all is well before closing them in for the night. I guess its good to have a walk in coop b/c sheesh it was humid in there. I have windows on all sides which provides excellent ventilation...but nothing short of a fan was moving any air in or out of the coop tonight. So, I took a pedestal fan that the fan portion attaches to the pedestal with a 8 inch plastic molded tube and a set screw, removed the pedestal and put a couple deck screws through the plastic tube into one of the frame 2x4s in the coop so that it angles out one of the uppermost windows. The fan is turned so the air is pulled in and exits out the window in hopes of increasing ventilation. I plugged it in, turned it on and whala; the coop almost immediately was more tolerable. Don't need to worry about the girls being too hot tonight.

You know they make some nifty solar fans... even solar ceiling fan kits. I want to put one in my house. I don't have on the ac now. I am under a ceiling fan on high speed and couldn't feel better. I am thinking I will try the solar ceiling fans instead of the electric fans with energy costs what they are.

They even make a ceiling fan with heat nowadays!

That way we can help save the planet too [IMG]

I may try solar eventually, but right now I'm just using what I have on hand. Guess I'm just not into stimulating the economy right now.
