I have to replace the bulb in the coop. It was red, but all I have is clear now. Is clear ok? Are they going to turn in to were-chickens?

I use ceramic heat emitters. These work in regular light sockets, but just produce warmth, not light. They are available at places with reptile supplies and come with a 5 year guarantee. I use them for brooding too so that the chicks have a natural night time just like they would if a hen was raising them.

What are you using the light for? Red lights will give heat, but won't do much for production. White will help production, if you want to go that route, but shouldn't be left on 24/7. Too stressful.
