Here is the progress as of last night of our coop! About half the hardware cloth is up now. We plan to use corrugated sheet metal for the roof, and a double door is going in the front by the hen house. We have not worked on the hen house yet, b but we plan to seal in the holes. This thing is gonna be indestructible!!!

Thanks! If anyone has some advice on how to ventilate the hen house, it would be welcome. There's gaps in the eaves but they're big enough for squirrels to get through which is no good! I was going to fill it in with foam insulation but then I'd have to make more vents elsewhere.

Cover the gaps with hardware cloth instead..... then add some windows (with hardware cloth for screens) so you get light and ventilation.
My article shows my windows and door ventilation options

    https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/the-egg-plant.72916/

Window on run side is open at all times, other window closed only when wind/rain direction and strength make it nrcessary....door panel open most days and 24/7 in summer....eave gaps are screened but not nearly sufficient on their own

Great ideas!!! Thanks for the article link. I hadn't considered doing external nest boxes like that. I love that idea instead of having to go through the hen house for eggs! Going to bookmark and show my husband.
