Hi all,
I would like to hatch some eggs from my dp (dual purpose) birds for meat. I want to make a mobile tractor but trying to determine the sizes. I see a lot of post here say 10 sqft/bird in the run for laying hens but I’m not sure if that is due to breed or age.
So if I am specifically raising dp birds for meat what are the coop and run size requirements?
Thinking buff Orpington, barred rock, and rhode island red, not fully decided.

thanks in advance!

Pretty much the same, moving the tractor daily might help, but still crowding can be an issue.
At what age do you plan on slaughtering?
Typical CX meat birds are often kept in smaller enclosures because they are slaughtered at about 8 weeks.

I was thinking 16 weeks based on what I’ve read when there full grown. But I’d play by ear to a certain extent.

How did this work out for you? I am planning on doing the same thing with some Brahma, Orpington, Americana birds.
