Lets see some coops actually covered in snow. It doesn't snow where I'm at but does it snow where your at ? Prove it here. Also, let us know where your at. This might help others getting ready for the winter.

Here is my tractor coop (big one on wheels), with run in Michigan last winter. You can see a mistake and a good thing in picture:

    1. I have learned not to have slanted section of roofed run go with slant towards flat roofed section. This has all the snow slide down and add weight. I have fixed this issue.

    2. I stapled heavy mil plastic to the north and west ( prevailing wind) sides of the run. This kept snow and wind down. Worked well as my birds came out in run every single day in the winter.

Keep smiling as winter is coming, [IMG]

Winter before last. At this point we had a cumulative total of about 8'. Ended up getting 10+. Last year we got one blast of about three feet and then it stopped. This year they're predicting another "bad" winter. But I'm pretty sure they always say that.

The hens were not impressed..Fortunately I had built a smaller outdoor run with a roof over it, so they could still come outside during the day. They were not interested in playing in the snow at all..
The Brave Ones, that actually ventured out..
