Hello, I’m trying to figure out what breed this rooster is. He was labeled as a Black Copper Maran at Tractor Supply when we purchased him 2 years ago. I am reading that Black Copper Maran’s do not have yellow feet and legs. This rooster does. Any ideas what this rooster is? Thanks!

*Photos we’re taken over that last year or so. They are in order starting with most recent.

I think he might be a Barnevelder as he is very dark. Either that or a hatchery hybrid.

Agree with this. The Welsummer roosters I've seen have all been much brighter in coloration, whereas Barnevelders are dark like this, and of course hatchery hybrids can look like just about anything.

Do you happen to have any pictures of him as a chick? Chick down coloration could probably answer what breed he is for sure. 🙂
