cornish cross

CX are hybrid meat birds. I would not recommend them as layers although it is possible. They have a tendancy toward leg problems do to their size and fast growth. I certainly would not pay $5 a bird unless they were full grown and I planned to process them. I personally raise them for meat only, they are ready for processing by 10 weeks or so.

No problem. That is why BYC is so great! Although most of the time, if you ask if you should buy a breed you will get a bunch of 'chicken enablers' telling you to go for it
