We got our chickens today. We got 6 chicks from TSC, 6 Cornish Rock (which I did not realize were meat birds) and 3 leghorns. The girl offered to put them in separate boxes, but I knew I was putting them in the brooder together, now that I know that 3 are meat birds I wish I could tell them apart.

Also I didn't think to ask how old they were? And they are straight run so some of them may be roos, we are going back this weekend to buy 6 more.

One of them has some poop(?) on the butt, ho do I clean it? Is there something wrong?

It won't be long til you can tell them apart! The meat birds are going to get bigger real quick! They are super yummy and you might want to try putting them in a brine before you eat them. It really tenderizes the meat.
As far as the poop on butt, I would just gently wipe it off with a rag using warm water. There may or may not be something wrong. Maybe others can help you better with that question.

Thank you! I will clean her up and see what happens. How do I tell how old they are?

I would think that the chicks TSC sells wouldn't be more than a week or two old. I would ask them this weekend when you get more.

I was thinking about calling them tomorrow.

My daughter was off the butt of the one chick, and the poor thing has a bald spot now. lol
