Has anyone mated these? I am thinking that it would make a great meat bird. But I dont know genetics or anything. Let me know what you think!!
    Thanks

Traditionally Indian game (known as Cornish in US) were crossed to dual purpose breeds to make meat birds. In UK those dual purpose breeds were Sussex & the like but Plymouth Rocks would just as easily fit the bill.[IMG]

That is exactly what every supermarket in the US sells in their chicken bins.

Jaynie, yes and no, but its not that simple. They are marketed as cornish rocks, but its not just the f1 generation of the cross. The lines that are used in commercial production have been hybridized. They used very heavy selection when starting their lines for growth rate and survivability. Though this cross will make a heavy build bird, please do not expect to get the results of commercial broilers.

    Absolutely Dustin....[IMG]
And a first cross between those two would have pea comb.
