I came home yesterday with 2 cornish chicks. I've butchered once before, but have never raised meat chickens. The feed store lady told me to take their food away at night. Any other advice I need to know?

Make sure they stay on some sort of chick starter for essential vitamins and minerals.

I agree with the lady at the feed store. It seems like the way Cornish X gorge themselves, a 12 hours on, 12 hours off feeding cycle prevents leg problems as the chicks grow a little more slowly without have 24 hour access to their feed.

Wait until they are 3 weeks old to go to a 12 on/12 off feeding. While they are little, they'll need the nourishment around the clock.

They look tiny for 7 weeks. What did you percent protine did you feed them? I feed mine 22% meat bird crumbles and at 7 week I have 5 lbers and they look much wider then yours. The batch I have going now are only 3 weeks old weds day but I'll post a pic in a few weeks. Please don't take offence I tend to word things politically incorrect.
