The Hunger Games and The Divergent set. Both are based on a series of novels. I enjoyed the movies even though they are targeted towards younger adults.

Sometimes I like movies based on books better, but usually I like the books better because the details are much richer. Having liked the movies I'd imagine the books are better.

Sheesh, you got me going now...
Nicholas Evens does a good novel - The Horse Whisperer, Smoke Jumper, and The Divide were good reads.

Nicholas Sparks will pull your heart out, squeeze it, and gently hand it back to you along side a box of tissues. His books dive more into the human condition.

A classic like Call of the Wild by Jack London should be on everyone's bucket list.

I hear Harlan Coben writes a good novel and I know Jodi Picoult has written several really good books. I can't read those unless I'm in the mood to dig deep.

LOL...one of the reasons I use it mainly for non-fiction. Not many people are on waiting lists for books on tiling or kitchen remodels. 😆

Those sound like some interesting reads!
My mistake ... It's the PIXIES in the bushes that bite ... the fairies are just really, REALLY sneaky. I guess it's time for a reread ... :D

Hmmm. men in kilts sounds tempting but, I bet there are no photos in the book.:th
That's okay ... I'll bet your imagination builds a better picture, anyway. That's why I prefer books to movies ... my mind creates the "perfect picture," which is sometimes ruined by Hollywood's pretty boy/diva images!
Speaking of which - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. NOT the movie ... the BOOKS! And yes, the answer is 42, but do you remember the question? It's okay if you don't; nobody else does, either!
"GoodBye and Thanks for All the Fish!"

Okay - back to reality for a moment.
Will somebody PLEASE hold me back before I murderize DD's boyfriend's mother?
He lives out of state, so in a moment of weakness and compassion (they haven't seen each other since March) I allowed him to come spend some time with us. I trust them both implicitly ... that's not the issue.
The ISSUE! - and yes, I shouted for a reason - is that his mother is at home, cranky and wanting him to return early. Apparently she's not feeling well and needs him to come home and feed the chickens & goats for her (her 11 year old isn't required to help, because she has a friend over, this week.)
"Gee, what's wrong?" Well, "Mom" has been achy, with a low-grade fever, for over a week, now (pre DD's BF pick-up) and her temp just spiked. Now, I know this kid isn't exactly her top priority in life (I could tell stories, but I won't, 'cause I REALLY like him!) But, really? Achy? Fever? In a pandemic? And she didn't say anything about it to me when we made the plans? Even though she KNEW we were going to my mother's 80th Birthday Social-Distancing Party?
Somebody just shoot me now before I hurt someone!

Hoping she gets tested because now you all have a chance of having it. People really are not taking this seriously! I am so sorry that you have to deal with this.
