    Good morning,
I'm looking for how much feed a coturnix will consume for an 8 wee period.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to BYC!

This amount can vary from summer to winter, breeding hen or rooster, etc...Quail don't eat a whole lot. I have never been too concerned and weighed out what they eat but I would guess a couple tablespoons per bird a day??

Maybe someone else will chime in here with a better answer. :)

    Thanks for the input.

I'm hatching these for a group of friends who need training birds for some springer pups and am just trying to get a handle on cost.

I've done pheasants and bobs before but not cortunix.

I'm just looking for a ballpark cost on feed.
    Thanks

As close as I've ever figured it, using DuMor game starter @ $19 per 50# bag it costs me around an average of 3 cents a day to feed a Cot from hatch to 8 weeks.
My breeder cages of 6 birds @ 10 oz each eat a little less than a pound of feed per day @ 36 cents per pound. That's around 4-1/2 cents per bird per day.

I have 27 four week old coturnix and they easily go through a quart of feed each day.
