just bought 2 brown and 5 pied coturnix to go with my 2 brown and 1 golden adults. though the guy i bought them from said they were all female the 2 browns are male sadly but how can i sex the pieds(not vent, alternatives?). Also, what do you get if you cross pieds with browns or with goldens?
thanks

There's a good thread about Coturnix colors as a sticky in this forum. If you don't want to vent sex, you could always separate the ones you're unsure of and see if they lay an egg or crow.

Both brown and golden is dominant to tuxedo (pied) and tibetan (the dark color that makes up the tuxedo). But you should get a combination of rosetta or tibetan depending on what color tuxedos you have (probably won't get any tuxedos, just solid colors) along with some browns and golds. Other than vent sexing to check for foam you'll just have to sit and watch them for a while until you see someone crow.
