Coturnix Roo Breeding "Blush"

People had been asking about the "blush" i was talking about.

Roos when in breeding season/condition get throat feathers in much darker than their *out of season* throat patches before my camera died today i took pictures of my two golden roos (two different types). People who get thier coturnix quail to breed all year long though will always see this throat patch, those who let them go dormant for winter will see their offseason throats.

It honestly depends on what variety you get and how hard the breeder breeds to keep the birds in genetic weight. Mine range from 6oz for some of the fancy colors (that im working to also breed bigger once I perfect color), to 13+oz for my Jumbo Browns. I did have a 13+ A & M hen but I culled her because she was having laying complications.
