coughing up blood

This morning my daughter told me our chicken was making a high pitched squealing sound and her tail was down. She is about 19 weeks so I thought she might be laying an egg. When I went out she was walking around a little off, went under the coop and was opening her mouth like she wanted to talk but nothing was coming out. Every now and then she would squeal. Then I realized she was spewing blood when that happened. I came in and looked up stuff and thought it might be Gale. I have her separated from the others and called the vet, they are closed for labor day. I massaged her crop to see if she might be choking or have something there nothing came out, but then she started to peck at grass, she ate some water and food, now her tail is up and she is acting fine.

Any ideas on what I can do to keep her on the mend or check for?
