Hmm. Training with fear (whip) isn't my idea of training. When I had my 5 pups in one large pen I fed them all at once, they all SAT and then ate out of the same bowl together. No troubles, and no fear.

Do you think the trainer has any hearing loss yet?

I agree don't need a whip to train. I find the sound/word "Ehh" said sharply works quite well with my puppies.

Still impressive that they don't eat him along with the food...

They are hunting hounds, they are worked with a whip as they are worked from horseback.

Those are foxhounds. That is how they are worked and trained. None of them look terribly afraid.
