    sex links are not a breed. They are the result of using two particuliar breeds as parents - so they are really mix breeds. The particular cross was developed to produce birds that will produce male and females in distinct colors at birth. So you know right off how many are girls, or boys.
    The cross also happens to produce very productive egg laying girls.

    Red sexlinks are a particular cross of two different breeds done for easy and accurate sexing at hatch. Usually, hatcheries use Production Red roosters bred to Columbian Rock or White Rock hens. However, there are many different pairings that will produce red sexlinked birds. Each hatchery has their own specific 'recipe'.
