Could these chicks be Cuckoo Marans?

I was giving some eggs that hatched yesterday. I do not know what these little biddies are. I am thinking French Cuckoo Marans. They DO NOT have feathered legs but I have read that some pet quality Marans don't. The eggs were light speckled brown not dark but I have also read that a new laying Marans hen will lay a lighter speckled egg before they darken up to the nice chocolate color everyone wants. Are you sure they aren't barred rock?

In the last picture the chick's feet are yellow and have a dark wash on the front.

No, I'm not... I don't have a clue what they are. I have never seen a barred rock chick before. They were surprise eggs from a co worker's son who live off & she couldn't remember what he said they were. She is asking him but I am impatient. [IMG]

Can you tell what sex they are by the spots on their heads? I have read that it can be done but I'm not sure how.
