So I found a crack on one of my eggs today but I immediately put a little clear tape to cover it so mamma hen don’t break the egg
Is it ok?
And btw before I put it I check the egg and the chick is moving around

Second plain candle wax. I recently had a crack in a live egg under a broody and dripped plain candle wax on the crack. It survived and hatched!
But do you think the tape will work as well
Since I only put a little on the small crack

I think the problem is potentially that that chick will try and pip into the Ttaped bit and not be able to get through. I've also got a cracked egg and used candle wax. I'm hoping it doesn't melt off!

I don’t know, I haven’t used tape. As chicalina said, it may present problems when externally pipping. I would also wonder about dust and dander and mom working off or getting under the tape. In an incubator it might be fine. Candle wax (or beeswax would be great, too) kind of molds and seals rather than just covers.

I tried candle wax on my cracked egg and found the heat from my broody hen melted it all off so the next day the crack was still visible 😔
