Cracked egg...

I am a newbie and I have been doing fine with candling until now...

I just cracked open (the large end) about 7 eggs from my incubator that were duds. The final one that I cracked has a chick in it that is squirming all around....ARGH! Now, I didn't puncture the membrane at all...I just opened the air cell on the large end. So, I quickly wet a paper towel and draped it over the open, large end of the egg. Will this help at all or not???? ARGH!!!! It was due to hatch on the 14th.....

You did right. At this point all you can do is pray... you never know, you may still get a chick!
