    hi all [IMG]

we got 2 gingernut rangers last week, while watching them today I noticed them both digging at the same time, not the normal digging for bugs but full on digging. they each ended up digging themselves a ditch and started rolling round in it and then just lay in it LOL!!!

any idea what they are doing?

    thanks [IMG]

They are dustbathing! It's a normal chicken behavior they engage in to keep themselves free of parasites and to clean themselves. It's also TONS of fun to watch because they look so silly doing it!

And, [IMG] There is so much info on chickens here, and brilliant people who know a lot! Chickens are quite entertaining.

You should spport this action. It prevents mites, fleas, lice, ticks and other parasites. They'll do this often, in fact mine are doing it right now.

Not so great when it is your flower bed or over at a neighbor.
