Last night I got home from work and 1 of my 2 baby chicks was pecking it's toe I got to looking and it had dried blood on it he had pecked it till it bled I picked him up and relized their waterer had leaked all out and the pine shavings were wet I changed the bedding and washed his little feet (he did not like this at all LOL) and this time I set the waterer on the bottm instead of on top of pine shavings I think it was tilted and ran all out but was he doing this because his feet were wet? he has stopped and is no longer bleeding but why would he peck his own feet till they bleed? Has anybody ever seen this before?

Baby chicks... have lots of learning. Could be them picking on each other. I've seen baby chicks pick their own toe and try to run with it. All that happens is it falls over.

As long as they are under a week, don't worry about bloody bits. When they learn to pick hard, then you want to really keep an eye out on picking for blood.
