I am still new to the breed. My chicks are only weeks old. But I have been talking to LOTS of people who raise this breed.

I got the breed because I love the bouffant crests and the round large blue eggs

I am finding though that not all Cream Legbars have either of those things and that the Rees Cream Legbars tend to actually have egg shaped smaller green eggs

I am also hearing from breeders that the earlier imports A-C line birds, had the rounder bluest eggs and that the best crests were C line birds.

What are you all seeing in your birds from the assorted lines?

This is the type of crest that brought me to the breed

    I am surprised no comments

Had a lady yesterday who is local post some Legbar chicks and I asked her to send me picks of the eggs and parents. She said hens were laying a round very blue egg. Photos show egg shaped very green egg and hen had just a bit of a swept back crest so I told her was not interested

thanks. You have roundish blue eggs?

Your bird crests and combs look like what I have seen from A&B so makes sense that is what they look like. :)

Yes. Sometimes I have to candle just to know which is the big end when setting eggs! There are one or two that lay a pale blue green egg with off-white spots. Everyone else lays pale blue round eggs.

    My
4 week old Crested Cream legbar growing her crest. Right now she looks like Alfalfa from Little Rascals
The 3 week olds have not started their crests yet
