Hello! I'm working on trying to amend my local chicken regulations and I was hoping to find some information related to roosters that I could use to try and get the restriction lifted (or at least lifted on certain size properties). They're banned because of noise, but I feel like roosters are not much louder than other animals and I'd like to prove that with sources.

Well, IME roosters are quite loud. I have chickens, rabbits, dogs, cats and snakes. Roosters are by far the loudest, other than the guineas. However, if you would like some hard facts, according to google a dog bark of a large dog averages . A rooster can reach 130 decibles. That is like standing 15 meters ffom a plane taking off. (souce Science.org) Here is another site you can look at- https://www.science.org/content/art...s lasted 1 to 2,of an active aircraft carrier.

Yeah...roosters are loud. They are also a liability if you let them free range. Like dogs, they can be very unpredictable in who they attack and why.

At best, you can try to amend the regs to 1 rooster per plat larger than a 1/3 of an acre. Smaller than that, implies it is just too dense to have a rooster. Quail are an excellent alternative in urban environments. They are laying and slaughter ready at 8 weeks, way faster than chickens, require less space, fetch higher prices.

Not to be considered data or scientific, but probably a realistic expectation. I used a decibel meter app on my phone this morning. It registered 80.8 ( high) at 3-4 feet, peaked at just a tad over 60 at about 30 feet.
