I think that my farm supply store messed up...again...sigh.
I bought three "Rare Breed! Crele Penedesenca!" straight run chicks according to their store sign. They were bought with a group of ten that included some other breeds I really wanted (Silkies and Andalusians, yay!), these guys were just add ons. So I am not devastated, just bothered, that upon googling they don't look like he few photos I can find of Crele Penedesenca chicks.

Anyone know more than me and able/willing to help a chick-swamped gal out? Are they? Aren't they? If they aren't, what are they?

If it is the chick under your hand in the second picture, it could be a Crele Penedesenca. If you're referring to the three chipmunk chicks the corner, they could be Partridge Penedesencas. The one in the corner is a boy and the dark one at the top is a girl, the other one I can't tell.
I only raise blacks so I can't you pictures of crele but there is a picture of a crele chick in the following link. http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGP/Penes/BRKPenes.html

Ask the manager what hatchery the farm store sourced the chicks from. Then you can check their inventory to see if that hatchery even carries those breeds. Penedesencas and Andalusians are very rare in farm store collections.

If you in fact end up with some Penedesencas and one is a boy, you'll be blessed with a great flock protector. Your predator vulnerable silkies will have someone in the flock on constant guard for hawks.
