It's poultry terminology for a young female.

A chicken is any bird of the species regardless of age or gender.
A hen is a female chicken over one year of age.
A cock is a male chicken over one year of age.
A rooster is a male chicken of any age.
A pullet is a female chicken under one year of age.
A cockerel is a male chicken under one year of age.
A chick is a young pullet or cockerel, usually at an age where gender can still only be determined via vent sexing or sex linkage.
And straight run refers to an unsexed mixture of pullet and cockerel chicks.

Wow thanks!!!! I was soooo worried I would have to get rid of the one breed I wanted. I got lucky when I got her and they told me she would be hard to sex for a while. I'm so happy she is a she!!!
