Hi everyone,
I was hoping I could get some help on egg genetics. I have an Americana rooster and incubated a whole bunch of cross breed eggs. The hens that laid these eggs are either barred rock, rhode island red, new hampshire red, buff orpington, black jersey giant, or salmon favorelle, basically all brown egg layers, so I was wondering what color of eggs will these hens lay when they get older? I have them in the same pen as pure breed birds (americana and other brown egg layers) so I was wondering if their eggs would be a distinctive different color, so that when they start laying I can differentiate their eggs from my pure bred eggs? Any help would be appreciated!
