Cuckoo Maran or Barred Rock?

My husband bought me two mature hens and the lady just called them sex links.
At first I thought they looked like barred rock or barred mixes, but I’ve recently been learning about cuckoo marans and I’m wondering if that might be more accurate for these girls. What do you think?

It could be a cuckoo maran because the egg color is not like barred rock eggs and the coloring is not of barred rocks.

If it's between BR and Cuckoo Marans it's a cuckoo marans - it has pink legs.

However something about the face doesn't look quite right, can't put my finger on it.
Maybe it's just me.

I thought so too. The face looked more barred ish to me.

Agree with cuckoo marans. She has the orange eyes, too. They generally do not lay as dark as the BCM. Egg color looks about right too.

Wait, if they were sex-links, wouldn’t the boys have been barred and the girls black with maybe some leakage?

Anyways, I think she is some kind of cuckoo maran cross. My BR hen lays light brown eggs, not dark. I have some kind of cuckoo maran cross roo, if that helps?
