I'm picking up a few Cuckoo Marans at the feed store this Thursday and need some pointers in identifying them. The shipment they are receiving has Barred Rocks, Cuckoos, and Dominiques in it! These 3 chicks all look pretty similar when young. Do you have any suggestions to help me pick the Marans I want? I have heard about the white legs on the Marans and the yellow legs on the Barred Rocks but that's about it. I heard the Dominique's have a white leg too with a little black on the front. Any pointers are appreciated as I'd like some dark eggs. Thanks!

Marans have white skin/legs and single comb.

Barred Plymouth Rock have yellow skin/legs and single comb.

Dominique have yellow skin/legs and a rose comb.

ETA: the black wash on front of legs is common for females but they grow out of it as they get older. Check the bottom of feet to ensure it's white and you've got your Marans.

At this young age, leg color (white/pink) and comb (straight) are the only ways you're going to be able to tell which is which. Unless they mark them
