I know that cuddlebones are a great source of calcium and minerals. They are supposed to be for birds like parakeets and cockatoos. Can they be given to chickens to act like oyster shell? Or maybe not for the calcium but as a toy?

Cuddlebones (like the one in your link) are the "back bone" of a cuddle fish and it is mainly Calcium Carbonate so it would be ok to feed to chickens but it would be far cheaper to just get a bag Oyster Shells at a feed mill. No, not cuttle fish bones. A cuddlebone. Here is a link to what I am talking about.

"Cuttle" is correct, I was typing and not thinking. It's spelled "cuttlebone" and it comes from the cuttle fish (although it's not really a bone, more like an inner shell, and it's not really a fish either...) But, I assure you, there's no cuddling involved.![]()
I used to buy them for my parakeet and for her, these provided beak sharpening/exercise as well as calcium. But for chickens, I'll give them a cinder block and a scoop of oyster shell, thanks.

Technically the Cuttlebone is the internal skeleton of a cuttlefish which is mollusk and a class of Cephalpoda.
Its a Cuttlefish not Cuttle Fish![]()
