I know Miss Prissy will come to the rescue here Is there a way to make your own cultured buttermilk?
I am not Miss Prissy, but I play one on TV.
Never would claim to be a MissPrissy but.........To use in baking?...When I make cornbread or any recipe that calls for and I don't have buttermilk on hand I add a tbsp. of white vinegar to a cup of milk, let it set a minute or two then add to my dry mix......
Edited that it was meant to be Tbsp!!....
I use vinegar too, but 1 tbsp to 1 cup. It works for my family, and I got the hint from my MIL. Great cook, that woman!
