I have a question about egg laying behaviour.

I have a hen who lays beautiful speckled eggs, I’d love to breed her to get more but.... I can’t find her.

I have separated my hens to find eggs I like but I found they don’t lay these eggs all the time! Why aren’t they consistently laying the same color eggs? She may lay one speckled egg a week but lays consistently every day.

My Welsummer is the one that lays the speckled eggs. All her eggs are very similarly specked.
The 2 on left side of pix are hers.

This is her, the hen on right side.

Why aren’t they consistently laying the same color eggs?

Speckles, like the brown coating they are made of, can vary day to day, week to week.
