I just noticed my older hen we took in for my fiancé’s co worker has a cut on her abdomen region! What could this be from? And is it ok for me to treat with medihoney? It’s safe for animals it’s actually made to use on animal wounds and skin issues but doesn’t say really about chickens specifically?! Attached photos of her wound. It seems sore when I went to move her feathers to get a good look at the whole wound she was not a happy camper!😩

How high are your perches in the coop? Any rough edges? It's hard to imagine another source for this type injury.

Honey is fine for chicken wounds. But you need to inspect your coop for possible sources of the injury so this doesn't happen again.

Is it on her breast area, under a wing, or under her vent? Depending on the exact location, it could be a wound, breast blister, or a spur injury if you have a rooster. MediHoney is supposed to be very good for wounds, but regular honey should not be used on cuts. Chlorhexidene, weak betadine, Vetericyn, or saline are all good to use on wounds. Triple antibiotic ointment or Noesporin is also good to use.
