Cutaneous growth on tip of toe

I've noticed this callous-like growth on a few of my chickens. It doesn't seem to bother them much, but sometimes I see the affected ones holding the foot up under their bellies.

In the past, I've soaked to soften and then trimmed the excess growth away, and it bleeds. I put antibiotic ointment on it and bandage for a few days. It eventually returns. Has anyone faced this in their flock? How did you treat it?

It looks/sounds like hyperkeratosis. I've never seen it in chickens though. Following in hopes someone here has experience with it!

I was looking at another thread with growths on legs and someone suggested tassel foot or leg mites in birds. Here is some info:

It’s a ‘horn’. Trim it off and use styptic powder to stop the bleeding.
