We have 4 new pullets. 2 Easter eggers who are the trouble makers, 1 barred rock who is nice and 1Australorp (which we’ve had before) who is SO sweet and lately loves to be held! When we put them in the coop at night, the other 3 jump up to the roost and she is left on a lower roost or the floor until i pick her up and move her to the roost (will just look for me through the top screen). I assume she is on the end of the pecking order..? Is me holding her contributing to that? We’ve been lucky to have nice hens but none that truly like to be held so I’m not complaining but also don’t want it to be negatively affecting her with the flock.

Yes I do Believe she’s at the bottom of the pecking order. We have a hen just like that, she does not want to get into the coop at night because everyone else pecks her. Some days we accidentally didn’t close her because she didn’t come in. This is also our sweetest hen she is a Rhode Island red she’s so calm I don’t know if it has to do with us picking her up, but she’s been like that since she was a chick. Hope this helped!!
